There are moments in life when we meet a person and positive energy surrounds us and flows through us.
There is time in life when we may never meet one person unless Universal energy connects us. It’s like we could feel the pure soul and heart of light of this person.
Have you ever experienced that feeling?
It happened with me a couple of months ago.
I would discover the inner power, the infinite knowledge and the beauty of this soul in her words when supporting her friends on social media or when expressing her deep sense of gratitude to wisdom coaches.
Later, when I was reading her first book, I found a piece of my childhood dream in her story - when describing a beautiful life memory dedicated to a painting of a bird – symbol of reaching an inner freedom and limitlessness.
I felt connected on a deeper level to Dr. Narjes Gorjizadeh. A PhD research scientist by profession, a certified meditation teacher and life coach by heart, she is also the creator of the G.R.O.W. program and several breakthrough concepts, such as Mindful Distraction and Design Your Best Future.
In her first book Grow your Mind, Grow Your Life she provides a practical guide for anyone who wants to live a happier and healthier life in this fast-paced world.
Dr. Narjes shares her inspiring life story and unique techniques, a brilliant blend of ancient wisdom and modern science, to increase our focus and counteract the stress caused by modern life to unlock our best life.
We have it all.
A story that reveals the inner strength and power of a woman going through challenges in life with persistent mind focused on the beauty around us; and turning these challenges into great opportunities by helping and guiding others to unleash and reach their highest potential.
Our new story begins now…
What is your favourite quote Dr. Narjes?
"Let the beauty we love be what we do" by Rumi
What is the story behind it?
Ever since I was a child I have always wanted to know how life and everything in it happens.
This longing to understand life was so alive in me that it became an inner guide to direct me towards what I truly loved to do and eventually it helped me find my life’s purpose.
As a young woman, I discovered physics, the study of the how and why of the physical world, and I pursued the career that I loved. I became a PhD research scientist to explore how the physical world works on atomic scale.
My research was exciting. But something was missing. Deep down I knew that there is something more to life and I have’t fulfilled my true potential.
Life helped me find the missing link. I faced a series of wake up calls that guided me to find my life’s purpose.
The first wake up call was the big Tohoku earthquake in Japan in 2011 that led to a tsunami and a nuclear disaster. At that time I was living and working in Sendai, a city in Tohoku area where the earthquake happened.
I was safe in the city, but hearing the news about the 20,000 lives that have been lost due to the tsunami shook me on the inside. They were living close to me, near the shore where I sometimes used to visit during the weekends. And suddenly, in the middle of a normal day, they suddenly disappeared.
I thought this could have been me who suddenly disappeared from the earth. And I asked myself “Am I really living the life that I want? Would I leave this life feeling fulfilled that I have achieved what I wanted?” And the answer was no. I knew I had a higher potential inside me to fulfill.
This incident created an urge for me to find what I truly love to do. But the problem was that I had no clue how to find it.
Life helped me.
10 days after the earthquake I went to Singapore to work as a research scientist in a prestigious research institute. What I found in my workplace was not what I had expected. I was facing a lot of stress at work and it was affecting my mental health and my physical health to a great extent.
After one year of visiting medical doctors to fix my physical health and not getting better, I went on a search to find a solution to manage my stress.
And I found meditation, which is the science of the mind.
Not only my physical and mental health improved, I found what I was looking for since childhood.
Ever since I was a child, in addition to science, I was interested in wisdom as well. The wisdom shared in the poems by ancient poets, such as the great Sufi poet, Rumi, attracted me. I’d read the poems of Rumi and the other great poets trying to understand their message. Even though I knew I couldn’t understand the depth of their meaning, these poems sought to explain the mystery of life.
In my professional life, I searched for this understanding of the mystery of life by studying the physical world—the world outside us.
Meditation provides this understanding by studying the inner world—the world inside us—by looking at our mind.
Meditation is my companion ever since. I’m truly grateful to my meditation teacher, Vikas Malkani, who introduced me to meditation. I became a certified meditation and mindfulness teacher by Vikas Malkani.
I then moved to Australia to make Australia my home and I spent years studying the science behind meditation as well as ancient wisdom from different masters.
Now the circle was complete.
I had explored life from both the science of the outside world (modern science) and the science of the inner world (ancient wisdom). This was what my heart truly loved: to explore life from both inside and out.
Eventually I combined modern science and ancient wisdom to create simple techniques and tools to help us remove stress and anxiety, increase our productivity, increase our focus and unlock our best life. Basically to live a happy and successful life.
At the same time, I had my biggest wake up call. I was diagnosed with a life debilitating disease.
Like the earthquake, this diagnosis reminded me how precious and how fragile life is. And it made me realise that I will not fulfil my true potential unless I share the fruit of my life-long journey with others.
This was my life’s purpose. To share science-based wisdom and tools to live a happy, successful and fulfilled life with as many people as I can. And I decided to follow my life’s purpose and make a positive impact in the world.
I created my GROW program, which is a coaching program, and I became a life coach to coach others to live a life of happiness, health and success.
And I published my first book, called Grow Your Mind, Grow Your Life, that has been warmly welcomed around the globe. In a short amount of time, it became #1 best seller in several categories, including Anxiety and Self-Help Stress Management and is impacting many lives.
All this was manifested in this beautiful way because I followed what I loved to do.
The joy that I find in touching people’s lives with my work and helping them create more happiness and success for themselves is priceless.
This is the reward when you follow your heart and do what you love. The fulfilment that it brings is all worth the effort to search and find what you truly love to do and to find the courage to follow it.
We spend a significant part of our life at work. But there are many people who not only don’t enjoy their work, but their work is the source of stress and anxiety for them.
There is something within us that wants to grow, to expand, to be free. When we confine ourselves to a job that we don’t love and we ignore the voice of our heart to follow what we love to do, fulfilment may seem out of reach. And stress and anxiety will be the outcome.
On the other hand, when we follow what we love, there will be more joy in our heart and more fulfilment in our life.
Even challenges in life cannot stop us from following what we love to do and to fulfil our life’s purpose when we set our intention to do so.
Who is Narjes Gorjizadeh?
I’m a research scientist, life coach, author, teacher of meditation and mindfulness, and speaker.
But these labels don’t really define who I am. They just describe what I do. “Who am I” is a deep question that has been asked for thousands of years and many seekers spent their life trying to find the answer to this question.
The best answer I can give right now on “who I am” is that
I am the intelligence behind all those tasks.
What is your legacy to the world?
My legacy is my teachings, writings, books and articles.
My legacy is also every person whose heart I touch with my work. It is every life that I have the honour to help become more enjoyable.
Every smile that I bring to a face, changes the face of the world, changes the face of the people whom they meet, and changes the face of the energy they emit.
And every heart that I touch by my work will make the world throb with more joy, with more peace, and with more happiness.
